Lamp Design + Build, LLC is looking for an experienced, full-time residential construction laborer. Ideal candidate will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely. Additionally, he or she should be familiar with construction industry safety standards and procedures to ensure project security. Job sites are located in several parishes and candidate must have reliable transportation to be able to arrive to the job site on time.

Only candidates with knowledge of and experience in residential and commercial construction projects will be selected for interview process.

-rough framing
-interior finishes
-flooring
-cabinetry
-painting
-excavation and site rough grading
-masonry installation
-plumbing
-electrical

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for overseeing construction projects, materials and workers on site. Also responsible for providing for all carpentry and related functions necessary to ensure the safety, security, and functionality of projects. Trade specifically residential construction including but not limited to drywall, doors, hardware, flooring, fixture installation and more.

  • Oversees and participates in all the same responsibilities as carpenters.
  • Supervises carpenters to ensure safety and quality in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes shop and field work.
  • Maintains paperwork as necessary for the operation of the carpentry department (may include time sheets, purchase orders, work orders, daily logs, etc.).
  • Conform to an established work schedule.


QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED is required; 15 or more years in construction experience; at least two years supervisory capacity preferred. Leadership and communication skills are essential. Must have transportation and tools. Needs to be skilled in a variety of residential construction skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to communicate orally with project management, coworkers, subordinates, and other tradespeople is important. Regular use of a variety of carpentry tools is essential. Standing or kneeling for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect building plans, blueprints and drawings. Heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 60 lbs. of force occasionally is required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common construction material, carpentry tools, and scaffolding is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may be performed both indoors and outdoors in residential settings including possible hazardous conditions on and around scaffolding or a construction site. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and smoke may occur. Activities include extended periods of standing or kneeling and extensive work with masonry tools, measuring devices, and machinery. Reports to Project Manager.
